sharkskin handle wrap

I have used sharkskin on my wrapped handle knives haven't tried shrinking it . It holds up very well and I have had several of my customers complement on it . I would like to know how to shrink wrap the skin if you don't mind.

What I was thinking was stiching the skin into a tube shape, soaking it in very hot water like I do with leather sheaths, sliding the tube over the end of the handle and as it shrinks during cooling and drying molding it to the handle shape. The question is whether the sharkskin will stretch and shrink enough for this procedure so I decided to ask for input.

What do you think would it work?

I don't see why it wouldn't and I have found some shark scraps so I will give it a try and get back to you . If you try before I do let me know. This sounds cool and might turn out nice.

I live on the water and see alot of sharks come in and folks here cut off the tails and nail em to the bulkhead poles and they do shrink a bit, good luck hope it turns out well.
