Hi!
Got my first Endura yesterday, a grey FFG, and wanted to share some of my experiences with it. It is my second Spyderco, the first is a Para 2, so that is the only one I can compare to.
Opening/closing - not as smooth as the Para 2, there is some resistance, like a spring, in the initial fase of opening. The same force is making the blade snap shut when I'm closing it, like. SAK. I cant flip this one open, not yet anyway.
The backlock - I have never used a backlock before, but theres is no play in any direction and it feels good. I think I prefer the comp lock because of smooth opening and onehand closing, but its more than good enough.
Sharpness - I used it a bit today , and noticed how sharp the edge was. I compared it to the Para 2 and some Emersons on some cardboard and plastic wraps, and it just glided through. No competition at all, Endura was the undisputed winner.
I touched it up on the sharpmaker afterwards (just because, didn't really need it), and used the 30 deg inclusive setting. The factory grind was so thin that the 30 deg only made a microbevel. It is awesome! And it explains the sharpness!
I bought it for use at work, together with the Emerson Commander (combo edge). The plan was to use the Com for the heavy work, and the Endura for the rest. Haven't desided if I will follow through with that plan or use the Para 2 instead, but it's def gonna get used.
