sharp finger

Wow, I want to go to dinner at Codgers house!

(Actually, I'm a pretty good chef myself. I'm a long way from starving.)

That sounds really good!

Well i got the sharpfinger from Codger a while ago and oiled up the sheath real nice when my son caught site of it. DROOLED ALL OVER IT!!

guess who's getting the knife for his 15th birthdayon the 25thof Dec.
I'll have to start after another one for meself. Thanks Codger. :D

Instead of a shiny penny Codger is gettin some other stuff from me. Maybe he has a digi cam and put up some pics when he gets his stuff in.

A Sharpfinger is a good hunting knife for a man or his son. I have seen a picture of the youngster, and he is indeed a hunter.

One of the early (1977) Sharpfinger ads boasts "In thirty years, you can give it to your grandson". Another suggested applications (1975) "for small elephants and large squirrels."

Tell you son Happy 15th Birthday from Codger and all the Schrade Knife Collector's Forum! No better way to celebrate than with a new Schrade!

The best part is that while I have been spucing it up with a patina and oil I have been envolveing him in it too. Had pork chops last night and handed it to him to cut chops and he is falling deeper in love with the knife. Just before bed he says to me "dad, can I see your knife again?" HEHEHE, little does he know. I think it has even caused an erection. He's gotta wait til Christmas eve.

It's no wonder, is this the knife Codger sent you?

I suspect that everyone who saw it wanted to handle it. And no, that is not likely one of frank's "wildlife" designs.

Codger

mewolf, how did the gift of the knife go?

I posted the scrimmed knife in jest, and no, it was not rehandled. This was just an unscrimmed knife that some artist did on their own. The same person did another one too but I can't make out the name in the pic:

I can see the rivets on this one clearer. Maybe i just wasnt actually looking at the rivets on the other one?

I still don't see any rivets!

Codgerrrrrrrrr

PS... Sparky may not like the pic. Forum rules?

Good point Codger, but look as I might, I can't find the "Forum Rules." There is however, this disclaimer at the bottom of every page:

BladeForums.com is an adult website with adult discussions.
In accordance with the COPPA, no one under the age of 13 may join BladeForums.com

I'll be happy to delete it if anyone finds it offensive.

Oh, I am beyond the adult age, so am not personally offended. Such knives are a genre unto themselves, and date back to the early part of the last century at least. I have seen the knives "clothed" here before with bandaids. The artist does have good style, and they are likely true scrims, not inked stamped repros.

Codger

Codger, I wasn't referring to the scrim, I meant if anyone was offended by the pic of a Schrade 502SC. ;)

Those are rated PG8. For viewing and posession. Now if they had been chitaylors......;)

By the way, some day soon there will indeed be a review of some of the chitaylors here. With honest comparisons between the real Schrades and the chi-com copies. I promise to try my best to contain my angst toward both the manufacturer/owner of the company and the U.S. marketing division. I assure you that will be a monumental effort on my part, but I will do it no matter how many edits it takes. And it will be done without "feeding the dragon". Oops. I mean filling the coffers of the Red Chinese Army. Oops. Well, you know what I mean.

Which reminds me... how many of you have a scrim (or unscrimmed) SC205 ???? I have a pair (one of each) and find it curious that they would use two different model numbers for the sharpfinger scrimshaws. These are also tang stamped and scrimmed left, not right as on most of the 502SC's I have seen.

Codger

I have wondered about the various numbering schemes as well. I sure wish that Debbie would come back as a regular contributor to explain some of these anomalies.

Codger, is it the perspective of the photo or is the handle larger on the bottom knife? It also looks rounded instead of squared off at the end of the handle.
