WOW, what a line-up.....again!! Coop, you really get the best knives to photograph,handle and fondle. Man, I'm really jealous.

It's your knives that are beautiful. Coop has just the talent to transcribe that in pics, but he cannot make ugly knives look pretty.

The whole blade was 24K gold flashed by ACME Plating of Montrose, CO. I dragged the flat face of one side across 800G paper over a granite surface plate until the damascus steel showed. My mark held the gold. The whole blade was acid etched again to reveal the damascus pattern. The acid mutes the shine of the gold somewhat, but does not affect it otherwise. A slurry of 'no name patina prep' & camellia oil was applied all over with a fine, soft cloth to even things out. Then she was rinsed in water & finished with pure camellia oil.

Fantastic stuff. If we aren't in THE golden age of custom knifemaking, I can't imagine what would be.
 
Hey Coop, I went through this entire thread looking for a shot you took of a Dozier DK-3 folder. It was in really awesome stag and damascus. I think it was from Blade '11 or possibly '10. I couldnt find it, I dont suppose you could throw it up for me (if you have any idea what I'm babbling about, that is... :D). Thanks!
 
I went to my own website, then went to the Gallery, and the little magnifying glass icon, which brings up a search pane, where I typed in 'Dozier'...

I only shot one Dozier folder in my career. You have a keen memory. :D

One of the VERY best engravers in the field is Jon Robyn. His ability to do scroll, bulimo, and capture whimsical fantasy is simply unmatched.

This folder blew my doors off: Gypsy Voodoo Queen? Love Potion #9?

Ron Best allows me to shoot almost every folder he produces. Then he sells them. ;) Here's his auto folder #2.

(That's his tool to disable the spring. The release button is on the spine. Unusual, and it worked easily.)
