Sharpened "False Edge"?

If a knife maker sharpens a "false edge", isn't it no longer a "false" edge? Seems to me, it is now a double edged blade, which is illegal in my state[WA]. So why don't they just call it a double edged blade?

Technically speaking, if a knife has an unsharpened suggestion of an edge on the spine, that is called a "swedge." If the spine of a blade is shapened along the full length then it's not a spine at all and the blade becomes "double-edged." If the spine of a blade is sharpened from the tip part of the way back, THAT is called a "false edge". A "false edge" IS sharpened.

Sorry to be pedantic.

Ill add my 2cents
The false edge is so called because it is not the primary edge. Seems obvious but that is the big difference between it and say a dagger where it should be impossible to tell the difference. Secondly .... the police will still call a false edge a double edge and be enjoying your nifty custom

All I can tell you is that every K-Bar I carried became very sharp over that "false" edge.. and there was more that one CO who was not sure it was legal - but then grenades caused a world of hurt too!
