I am looking for a portable, durable, functional sharpener to include in a survival kit.

Please share your recommendations.

Thank you.

i would suggest, without any experience in these devices,

a pair of dmt diafold sharpeners, a course/med and a fine/xfine. they are small and light, based on numbers i see on the net.

i carry one of these, but i don't keep it in a survival kit. i do keep half of a soft arkansas stone though for field touchups if i don't have my real setup:

convex/flat sharpener (flat by stretching the paper across the plain back instead of over the mousepad)

Fallkniven DC4 (or DC3 if you want one a bit smaller). They have excellent fine diamond on one side and a fine ceramic on the other. A very durable leather sheath is included. I have two and love them. I chipped a D2 knife on the edge of my truck, and was able to have the blade shaving sharp again in about 10 minutes. This would have taken a good 30-40 minutes with my old benchstones (80 grit, 120 grit, 400 grit, 800 grit...)
