What is your favorite Steel to sharpen ? I freehand sharpen, and my 2 favorite Steels to sharpen, are.......154CM & VG 10....wHAT'S YOURS ?

I really do not like sharpening. Some find it relaxing, but I feel that it is a PITA.
CPM-M4 is easier to sharpen than most.

CPM 154, CPM D2, Takufei SG2, and whatever my Genco razor is. These steels just take an incredibly keen edge. Easily, too.

CPMD2 is incredible all around steel. I thought it was going to be a PITA to sharpen, but it has proved to be a really good steel for both edge retention and ease of maintenance/sharpening.

Schrade's carbon steel on the USA Old Timer series. This is where I first was able to whittle hair.

anything up to say benchmades 154 cm and spyderco vg10 i can get very sharp with out too much effort but s30v is where it starts to get a bit tougher IMO

CPM-154 for me. It takes an excellent edge and is pretty easy to sharpen. Once you put it to strops it gets even better. A super smooth edge that polishes up quite nicely. CPM-154 is a pleasure to use and sharpen.

CPM-M4, CPM-D2, ZDP-189 on waterstones, 52100.

I like to sharpen freehand too :)

Aogami 1, Shirogami 1, CPM M4, M2... Mainly because of the level of sharpness/relative ease of sharpening.
Aritsugu Gokinko steel (still a mystery composition) does take very sharp edge, but grinding that is huge pain. I like the sharpness, very impressive how long it can hold it, but the effort....
