Sharpeners...What is your favorite Steel to sharpen ?

I just touched up a VG-10 Spyderco for the 1st time tonight. It was dull from box opening. It wouldn't slice copy paper w/o catching a little.

I gave it about 8 passes on a DMT fine, x-fine and xx-fine, then took it to a plain (no compounds) leather strop for about a dozen light passes on each side and it's like a light saber again! :D

VG-10!

How do you sharpen INFI are there any links to posts? Don't know what to expect from my new Busse some day down the road. Plus, it's a convex grind. I figuured as long as there's no damage - just a little "out of tune" - to strop it with a medium and then a fine compound to keep it up.??

SR-101 from my understanding is 52100, and IMO the best carbon alloy there is along with M4.

I can sharpen carbon steels like 1084 and O1 on some rocks I found in my backyard, so those. I then put some dirt on my pants and strop. On my better equipment all the steels are pretty close. I can hardly tell the difference sharpening them. They all sharpen up pretty fast and every time I get at least shaving sharp no matter the steel or heat treat.

any paper steel but don't really care for AS. If I had a preference in the paper steels I'd pick a white steel either 1 or 2

o-1 is fine
really most non molested carbons are easy meaning without being a rather over the top alloy

13c26 is fine

/shrug most steels these days are fine

in lengths longer than a typical large folder I'd rather not sharpen s30v far more work than its worth

and as gator said gokinko is neat its a bitch to sharpen but its edge attaining and holding are so beyond most moderate chromium alloys so from an I hate to sharpen mood it could be the best as onces its there its there for a long haul.

Ruana's 1095 is my favorite, I suppose, but the old Schrade 1095 is downright wonderful at a fraction of the price.

Come to think of it, the old Schrade 1095 knives sold for a fraction of the price of damned near everything--one Helluva bargain.

I like sharpening them all.

But 52-100 and 50-100B are always a pleasure,

...they easily sharpen to scary sharp.
