It is with great dismay that I need to make this post about terrible service from 2 vendors. The vendors in question are Scott Solar (shotgunner) at sharpenershop.com and Charles Steffes-Clayton at Atlas Knife.

On 07-27 I ordered an Atlas Mini etcher from Scott and paid $100.00 with PayPal. I never received an order confirmation or anything.

On 08-3 I emailed Scott to see if he knew when it might ship. He responded saying he was on his way to ship it right then. Received the unit on 08-05.However upon opening the box and attempting to use the unit it wouldn’t work. I emailed Scott about the problem and he tells me to open it up and see if I could fix it. Say what?? Tear into a new product (and possibly void the warranty) and make repairs to a unit that obviously wasn’t tested before being shipped to a customer. You can understand why I refused to “fix it” myself.
Scott then brings Charles Steffes-Clayton (manufacturer @ Atlas Knife Co.) into the email loop and Charles says to send it to him for repair or replacement.

On 08-06 I shipped the unit to Charles for repair/replacement.

On 08-17 I emailed Charles asking about the status. He says there was a loose wire and that it had been shipped last week.

On 08-19 Scott emailed Charles about the status and Charles replies that the package was returned to him because “the shipping label must have fallen off”. Charles then sends me a screen shot from Stamps.com indicating the unit shipped with a tracking number. The next day USPS indicated there is no such tracking number in the system. Strange.

On 08-21 I called Scott to request a refund after being lied to by Charles. Scott agrees to make a refund and does so but then within minutes Scott stops the refund through PayPal.

On 08-26 I emailed Scott about stopping the refund and he denies doing so. Some investigating through PayPal showed that the bank account number on Scotts PP account had been closed. Scott admitted to knowingly processing the refund against a closed account and assured me that he now has a new account attached to PayPal and will do a refund by 9:00 PST that night.

On 08-29 I emailed Scott yet again about my refund and have never received any response.

Today (08-31) I began a dispute with PayPal and Scott has been notified of such.

I just find it hard to believe that vendors can treat customers like this and stay in business. I have been lied to numerous times which I guess speaks volumes as to the character of both of these people. I would say anyone thinking of doing business with either of these companies, or individuals think twice……
