Davide, why don't you start over again, but this time try applying less pressure. Rely more on the blade's own weight and take your time. I firmly believe that getting a keen edge is 99% skill and 1% equipment. You should practice until you can get a sharp edge on your current equipment (although not necessarily get a hair splitting one), and only move on to better equipment after. Don't take this as a put down, but if you can't get an edge using mouse pad, you're unlikely to get an edge using leather.
