my SS PE Cricket has the most structurally complex blade of all my knives, when you sharpen a PE Cricket on the SM, do you use just the corners of the hones, or the flats as well? doesn't look like there's enough surface area to sharpen the recurve tip on the flats...

Just the corners. Try to move the wrist, so that the part of the edge that is touching the rod is always (approximately) parallel to the table top - meaning the handle should be fairly far down when you do the tip. Good luck!

What HoB said times 10!

Also, go slower and maybe a bit lighter than you normally do. The one good thing about sharpening a Cricket or Dodo on the Sharpmaker is that the blades are small.
