I'm tempted by the cricket but... how am I gonna sharpen those wavy things? I have waterstones and diamond stones... but not the Spyderco Sharpening thingamajig. Is it possible to do it on flat stones?

I'm not about to spring for *another* sharpeningamabog.

It depends on the width of your stones. Much over a half inch, I'd have to say no. I usually use an old ceramic sharpener with round sides that I picked up a while back.

Well, okay...it was a long while back...twenty years or so...;)

Get the Spyderco Sharpening thingamajig, you won't regret it! It works for just about everything you'd want to sharpen.

I second that. The sharpner is the reason I got interested in Spyderco knives. IMHO it's the best sharpner around.

But...if you REALLY know what you're doing you can use a diamond file. I don't recommend that unless you're a pro.

Yea, unless you're into freehanding or convex grinds you can't beat the Spyderco Sharpmaker.

I don't know that you could do much with the Cricket freehand anyway...You will not likely regret your investment in the Sharpmaker.
:)
