Sharpening a Fiskars?

Like many of the posters before, a file followed by a couple sharpening stones worked well.

I was amazed at how much softer the steel is on an axe. Makes sense if you slip and hit a rock or run into a buried nail.

This is what I did - and I was amazed at how quickly I could sharpen the axe - however it seemed to hold the edge well.

Fine ceramic rod to keep the edge in shape. DMT Extra Course for thinning out the bevel. DMT folding coarse / fine sharpener in the field, though I only use the fine since I don't chop rocks :D

Get a nice shaving sharp edge on it and they cut quite well even with the factory bevel.
