Just received a Falkniven WM and a Spyderco Moran Featherweight. What a bad little dude and dudess :). Look great and sharp out of the box. The Moran blade is so pretty I don't know if I'll be able to bring myself to using it. I asume when you sharpen you screw up the finish, right? I imagine you have to say goodbye to the convex edge s well?
Any experience with sharpening the Moran or convex blades? How do you maintain the mirror finish?

I think Sal said they used cardboard wheels with a fine stropping abrasive. I think you could do the same with a ultrafine grit belt and a strop. But Its ok if you sharpen it normally, you just lose the convex edge.

Try my site for a link.

Scroll down the page and look for the word Sharpening, big, bold and underlined, the third convex sharpening link is the one you probably want.

My thoughts on the Spydie Moran.
** Use it! It's a great little cutter but not much of a display knife IMHO
** The finish holds up surprisingly well and the marring that occurs gives it some character
** Sharpen it with the Sharpmaker like you would any other knife. The VG-10 is easy to resharpen to a razor's edge--don't worry about losing the "Moran" edge. A cutter that cuts is a cutter that cuts.

** To make this knife really useful, get an Edgeworks "Allman Bros" sheath in kydex. Gives carrying a whole new meaning
** Use this knife! You will be disappointed if you don't.
