Sharpening angle for Buck 110

Can anyone tell me the Buck manufactures recommend sharpening angle for the Buck 110 blade.

Buck says:
The new "edge 2000" is 30°
The "old edge" before was "close to 50°". (which was a reason for "good edgeholding")
Happy sharpening

Alex,
It seems as though you got an answer already but why not try posting over at the "Buck Knives" forum.

Those Buck guys really love their knives and I'm sure they'll have plenty of opinions to throw at 'ya.

My guess, and it's just that.....a guess, would be about 25 deg.

Odds are that you will be better off with a different angle than whatever standard angle Buck indicates. It is based on the necessary level of durability that Buck feels is necessary. Unless that happens to exactly agree with the level of durability that you need on your knife, which is *very* unlikely, you would be much better off with a higher or lower angle depending on if your blade gets more or less stress. If you are not seeing edge damage on a regular basis then odds are your edge is too thick. Try lowering the angle, you will note a strong increase in cutting ability. Most factory edges are *far* too thick unless you are cutting hardened metal, thick bone, or similar.

Mine is about 10 yrs old, I sharpen it on a 204, with 40 degree angle. I have it sharper then about anything I own.
