So i had some free time tonight and was debating whether to watch a movie with the girl or practice my sharpening skills on the wicked edge??[emoji848] told the girl I'll be done in an hour....ummmm nope(2.5 hours later[emoji23]). Keep in mind this is my 3rd knife on the wicked edge and I still have a ton to learn. I must admit i was a little hesitant to tackle the Slysz since it's one of my favorite knives and had a pretty decent bevel from the factory. So I said why not, prepped a bit by taping the knife off a bit and jumped right into it.
As i set it up I go for the lower notch and keep it level/standard, then find the best forward/back position. I always use the sharpie technique and came to the conclusion that I couldn't get a consistent angle past the belly to the tip. So what "I did", not sure if it was the right way or if there's a better way but I broke the sharpening into 2 sections. One being the flat.....progressed through all the stones, ceramics and strops then repositioned the knife in the clamp with the belly/tip almost straight up. Then started the whole process over and blended the 2 parts. At the time and with my little to no experience that was the best solution. Took a hell of a lot longer than i had planned and the girl was pissed as fu** but the blade came out pretty clean so it was worth it!

I was texting back and forth with a BF member that I made a trade with a few days back about tips and tricks on the Wicked Edge. The guy definitely has experience and just in the few minutes we talked he gave me about 4 tips to get me started. Any experts or part time WE users share any tips or advice please. Even if it's a one liner, anything helps and it helps the next guy that picks one up. Or even someone that has used one and didn't even know certain techniques or tricks. So whatever ya have for tips throw em out there!!
