Sharpening Chisel Ground Blades?

I have a WKC Uji that I want to sharpen. What is the way to sharpen chisel ground blades? Will my Spyderco Sharkmaker do the job, or do I have to sharpen it on a bench stone?

Thanks in advance.

Establish the grind angle of the knife by laying the chisel grind on the stone. Shapen at that angle three or four strokes. Then use your sharpmaker stone almost parrallel with the flat side to remove the burr, one or two strokes. Repeat until sharp. If that didn't make any sense call Sal Glesser.

Having sharpening more chisels and plane blades than I care to count, I would recomend using benchstones to sharpen a chisel grind. It's actually quite easy compared to a "V" grind because, generally, the width of the edge is so great that it's easy to maintain the anlge. The trick to sharpening chisel blades is to wipe the burr off the backside. Hold the back edge almost flat and lightly stoke it against the stone a couple of times. Then give the beveled edge one more store and you should be set. Hope this helps.

F*** chisel ground blades. I hate those things. Other than that flip your sharpmaker over and use it as a benchstone. Use a maker to color the edge. this will help you see when you're hitting the angle just right. Then remove the burr as said above.
