Sharpening D2 steel.

I know what you mean about D2. It took at least an extra 30 seconds on my paper wheels to work up a burr on my Queen D2 canoe, and an extra pass on the buffing wheel to get it hair whittling sharp with a polished bevel. That was almost one whole extra minute than say a CV blade. One extra minute on the paper wheels is like a hundred minutes elsewhere. It is a time warp thing.:D I love the edge holding power of D2.

I am now venturing into free hand. My talking smack may be gettin a smack back.:foot:
 
Yes, indeed. That's one reason to repeat my earlier advice: There are several forum members here who do knife sharpening at modest prices. If you hire one, tell him that you want a 30° angle, and once they get done setting the bevel for you, the SM will be easy to use for touch-ups.

And trust me, it's more than a hundred minutes elsewhere!
