So i bought some dmt paste, 6,3 and 1 micron, but i've seen a lot of posts about applying the paste on hardwood.
does this mean applying the paste immediately on the wood, or on leather wich is fixed on the hardwood. thanks in advance!

Either way. I've used it on both, and more (leather, paper, balsa, oak). So long as the surface is smooth and CLEAN, there's really no 'wrong surface' on which to apply the paste. The compound will work more aggressively on firmer/harder surfaces, so keep that in mind.
