Sharpening Guthooks

How do you guys sharpen the inside of the hook on your guthook knives? I'm finding that no matter what stick, bone, stone, etc. that I buy, it won't fit in there.

I use a round ceramic rod, it is just a matter of finding one with the proper diameter. You could also use one of the Spyderco stones from a Sharpmaker, the triangular shape makes it easy to get into tight curves.

Find a good round tapered diamond stone that is made for sharpening things like serrations and gut hooks. DMT and several others make them.

Mission Knives has a tapered diamond rod sharpener that stores in its own plastic handle.

Also after you do sharpen the hook, use a length of leather shoelace to strop it.
