Sharpening in Las Vegas

Tom---Are you say'n that the razor edge you put on my HD-7 was a mistake??!! lol. Talk to later.

I am sorry, but this is simply UNTRUE!! It may be more difficult, but it CAN be done!!

If you can sharpen a knife of D-2, S30V, CPM 154, etc... you can sharpen ZDP-189!! You will just need a little extra time and some diamond hones!

Some day I hope to be a REAL PRO like him.... :barf:

:)

So how is my reprofile looking Tom? Not nearly as good as one of your jobs im sure. It is taking forever to reprofile this blade with the edgepro, I wish I had some diamond stones but I am saving to buy a house right now.

Look, honestly I posted that from memory. He probably said something more along the lines of "it is very difficult to sharpen this steel, and you need to know what you are doing in order to do it correctly." I interpreted it as, "forget about me ever sharpening this knife myself, cause I don't want to screw it up."

I was only trying to help the original poster out, as he asked for someone to send the knife to.

trakker45,
I was not trying to cut on you. Really just posted in jest... Thats the problem with posting vs talking it is difficult to convey sarcasm...

Just tired of hearing that this steel can't be worked or sharpened by the common guy... It is a hard and high wear resistant steel, but diamond hones make it possible!

One of the hardest parts of sharpening knives is getting the edge thinned down, once that is done it becomes MUCH easier to touch them up in the future!

Antihero17, looking good! It can be done without diamond hones but it just takes longer. I would try a very coarse india bench stone to rough it down and then switch to your edgepro.

My friend goes there a lot actually. I considered them but last time I was in there (quite a while ago) they told me they tried sharpening ZDP for the first time and couldnt get it very sharp.

Anyone know someone in Las Vegas that sharpens knives? Small business etc. Thanks. Advanced Tactical and Blade? Anyone give them a try?
