Sharpening long blades

What's your recommendation for sharpening blades longer than 9 in.? I'm thinking about the long Bowies and Khukris.

I've had good results using the Spyderco 204 for my khukuris. You might want to try searches of the HI forum & HI archives for more tips. Good luck.

The 204 will work on anything if you have the patience and if it had an edge at one time it probably isn't too bad off.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

. Great place. Has anyone had any experiance sharpening cold steel nogales serrated blades. The points seem very close together, ever for a spyderco sharp maker. I'll probably stumble around for a while and make a fool of myself.

work in progress

I picked up a bunch of oddly shaped ceramic hones from Lee Valley Tools intended for sharpening wood carving chisels, i.e., small gouges, veiners, etc. Some are cone sharped, others a very fine V angle. Those woould work for CS's peculiar serrations (I am not criticizing, they are said to work very well, although I have no personal experience, preferring non-serrated blades). Do a search for Lee Valley; they have a website, do a lot of mail order and charge in Canadian currency (currently about 65 cents US). What a deal!
