Sharpening method?

I usually do a push-pull (edge leading and trailing) with the blade at a slight angle to the stone and then do a few heel to tip, or tip to heel strokes as needed to deburr.

I have heard that the method first suggested makes nastier cuts that take longer to heal, and is sometimes used on fighting knives. But I'm by no means an expert and dont know how true this is, it's just something I've come across a few times.

Whether you go tip to heel or heel to tip should matter much except if you leave the edge really coarse and even then I have my doubts as to the effect. I would use what ever feels most natural to you.

Heh, what if, when sharpening, you dont get a burr??? Only time I have ever gotten a burr was when I sharpened a cheap ass thin bladed knife.... Otherwise, I have never gotten a burr before. Don't get me wrong though. I am sharpening it, trust me I can tell, haha! Sharpen, trip, fall, slice, #^$%!!!, get stiches, and do it all over again, lol!
