Sharpening Mower Blades? EdgePro? Stropping?

WadeF,

I guess that you should also replace your current mower blades with S7 shock steel and then use that quarter micron diamond/bort stropping paste on your weedwhacker and edger. Though you'll probably get the offer, turn down the Tungsten-DLC and Boron Carbide coatings. They probably won't last two summers.

While I did start this topic as some what of a joke, because I know some of us here go above and beyond normal sharpening with our knives, I thought someone out there might take all this extreme sharpening to their mower blades. :)

This turned out to be a informative thread and I'm going to have to go get a blade balancer now. :) I do have an attachment for my Dremel to sharpen mower blades, but I have a mulching blade. Will this be a problem? I noticed the one gentleman mentioned he used an $1,800 grinder for mulching blades!

Harbor freight belt sander with 24 grit belt. Boom. And fast. Angle grinder works well also as well as grinding wheel.

Gotten them so sharp that when the mower turned the blades they cut the very fabric of time & space.

He's now on Mars, year 3201, mowing an alien lawn. It's blue....grass.

Dang, I didnt noticed the thread start date either, lol. I use my cordless Dremel and a sanding drum. 20 seconds later both sides of the blade are done.
