Sharpening my BK7

Be careful with those Smith sharpeners. I'm just about to reprofile a coworker's Kershaw Needs Work folder because he has been pressing down too hard on the blade when he sharpens his knife and has turned the Wharncliffe edge into a recurve. A light, even touch is the way to go with those things.

For me, I use a belt sander for serious reprofile work, with a Work Sharp to refine the edge and a block strop to finish it up. If i just need to do a touch up on a knife, the block with various grits of sandpaper and the three different colors of buffing compound works great. The Sharpmaker is also easy to use for honing and is a good investment.
 
thanks for the heads up wasatchdan. I'll start with the smith's setup for now as I'm already eyeing another Becker haha! very tempted to pick up a bk-15.
