sharpening question *MICRO-BEVEL*

A knife that is not sharp is not a "knife". A knife that is not used is useless. A knife that is used will not last forever.
 
For, the OP, yes a second bevel will change the sharpness of the edge simply because it changes the bevel angle. How much it affects it is a function of the angles you use. You can make the second bevel almost the same as the primary one with very little loss of sharpness your can dull the edge at the other extreme. If you think your second bevel made the hurt the edge, then regrind and use a more acute second bevel next time.
