Wow! Your naming some good steels here. Plus, wrote a good story. The steel you name (CPM-154) Buck used exclusively on their 110 model for Bass Pro and it does have a brass frame w/ rosewood handle and it has a black coating on the blade. To my knowledge thats the only model that has that steel. In my opinion thats a great steel for much of general cutting chores as it does so much well. A good stainless, holds a very good edge, easy to sharpen and of powder metallurgy. It would not be my first choice for a hard use camp knife. I have some of that steel in my inventory and I can say it grinds clean, takes a nice mirror polish and not tricky to heat treat. Feedback has been good from it.
