Any advice on how to get a uniformly sharp edge, with even sharpening on my two recurves -- Zero Tolerance and Cold Steel Spartan?

Thanks in advance

Round the edge of a stone and follow the curve.

You can also try to find a round wooden dowel of sort and wrap it with some sandpaper. Depending on how drastic the recurve is, you'll want to find a smaller dowel to fit.

I have both of those blades and can easily get a uniform edge using my Sharpmaker. For me, the Sharpmaker makes it basically idiot-proof (which is what I need)!

Smaller width stones would be better for sharpening recurves.

There are also several round or oval style sharpeners available too from various brands.

the problem with round, oval stones or rounding the corner of a stone is sharpening at the plunge line. round stones do not fit into corners. my pringles can method will pretty much let you shape the can to fit the blade curve and use any grit you want.

Never encountered that problem. Sounds like a cardboard can would have a bumpy surface and too much radius for most recurves. Only need a small amount of rounding to do a recurve, smaller the better actually or you will not get into that inner curve.
