Sharpening is a life-long journey, for sure! My grandpa taught me the basics when I was little. Then in 9th grade I had pneumonia and was home from school for 2 weeks. I had to sit up and sleep in my dad's Lazy-boy chair to help my lungs clear. I spent days with a Buck 709 Yearling that I found on the bank of a trout stream and an old double-sided two-grit stone from the junk drawer in the kitchen. I abused that poor little knife, but after a week I had it pretty well figured out. Then I learned about stropping. Then powder metallurgy steels came on the scene and I felt like I was starting over again. I'm still learning more every day!
