First up is a two stone set of natural water stones. The large stone (Aoto) commonly referred to as the blue mountain stone is by far one of the best feeling and most fun to work with water stone I've tried. Fast to build it's own mud and lots of it. Needs at least 20 minute soak time. 2k-3k grit.
Next in the set is a Grade #3 Awase Toshi finishing stone (smaller stone). This is a hard splash and go natural stone with a 8k-10k grit and a smooth buttery feel. This stone will produce a kasumi (mist) finish on higher Rc steels, both stones are ideal for carbon steels. REMOVED.
Next is a synthetic stone known as the Kitayama. Its labeled as a 8k but is capable of finishing up to the 10-12k range. Works great on all steels and produces the sharpest of edges with a very bright finish. Comes with original box and nagura stone. $60 shipped SOLD
Both stones have been lightly used and well cared for. For further info on the natural stones visit The Japan Woodworker.
