Just get the Spyderco Sharpmaker and be done with it. As a noob, you will enjoy the ease of use and results factor.

With the Sharpmaker you will be getting razor sharp edges very quickly. Watch the video and get to practicing on an old knife. I tried several different systems, including the Lansky, but never got a truly sharp edge until I used the Sharpmaker.
