Question:Which system do you prefer...Spydie's Sharpmaker, Lansky's System...etc? Any experiences appreciated! :D

The Sharpmaker is great. Get the ultra fine rods and strop with C/O and you can treetop hair.

About a year ago I had to choose Sharpening System for myself. I was not Spyderconut then, but I choose Sharpmaker for several reasons:
1 You do not need water or oil for lubrication, so it keeps area clean
2 It is compact
3 Sharpmaker can handle plain edge, serrated edge (everybody has at least bread knife), full flat ground blades (I talk to few people, who using Lansky, Gatco or DMT and did not get positive answer about capability of these system to hold full flat ground knives).
I am using Sharpmaker for a year and I love it. I watched DVD and first time in my life was able to sharpen a knife shaving sharp. I watched DVD a few times more; learn a few tricks here and on Spyderco forum. It is a great tool and if you get one you will never be disappointed.
Good Luck.

Thank you both for your replies. I'm sold...a Spydie Sharpmaker it is!!!

But...Redhawk44p...Or anyone...May I kindly ask what strop with C/O is? I'm still trying to learn the abbr. lingo here. Thanks!

I am not sure which aspect of the post you are referring to? If you mean a toothy edge versus a polished edge I try to carry both types of edges. I prefer a polished push cutting edge myself.

Good Day...I was referring to the thread in "general" as a learning tool for sharpening knives and was asking if you thought some of the ideas posted had merit. I realize everyone has their preferences. :D

Enjoy your day and thanks again for your responses.

I like benchstones. Spyderco has some very nice ceramic ones that I would like to own soon.

I sold my sharpmaker, I want another one!
