Sharpening the tips

Hi Everyone,

I've been thinking about tip geometry lately. I've been grinding my tips a little bit thicker to reinforce them, but if I keep my sharpening angle consistent with the rest of the blade, the tip still ends up really delicate. Do you guys lower the sharpening angle at the tip, or rely on other aspects of tip geometry to keep them strong?
In one of Murray Carter's books, he says to make the tips "thumbtack sharp" but doesn't explain whether he means at least as sharp as a thumbtack, no sharper than a thumbtack, or exactly as sharp as a thumbtack. Either way, he doesn't explain this very well or how to achieve it.

Thanks,
Chris
