Has anybody every sharpened the swedge on the Umnumzaan? I have an early Umnum with the sharp swedge and love it, but I have an s35VN coming in that will (At least i think it will from what I have heard) have a dull swedge.

I find the having the stout secondary edge has been really useful to me, as I use it for tasks like cutting tape and opening boxes.

Has anybody sharpened the swedge to make it more like the originals?

I sharpen the swedge on my Umnumzaan but dull the part that is not covered by the handle when closed. I too find having that extra wee bit of edge for those dirty rough jobs very handy.

imagine a swedge sharpened with the edge pro, that must be sick
anyone done it?

That would be sick!

I would do it if the swedge didn't protrude from the handle...im afraid that would be a good place to slice a finger open.

Plus in ND you can't possess double edged blades :(
I like to keep mine dull for scraping tasks it works swell! Even having it dull it aids in stab cuts to help separate and slide through the material.

I have done it once or twice and found that the disadvantages outweighed the advantages - your call, and with a folder it somewhat depends on how the blade is exposed from the handles. As SA points out, in some places it's actually illegal.
