Hello,

Maybe a dumb question...

But what sharpening stuff is the best for knifemaker in your opinion ?

I searching something good for sharpening lots of knives... ( doing this only on ceramic wet stones is a pain)

Cheers,
Sadowski :)

I set my edge bevels with a clean fine (A45 or A30 trizact) belt and finish sharpening on diamond "stones" (600 and 1200 grit). If I'm really feeling frisky I may use finer grit sandpaper. A quick strop and boom, ready to go.

Maybe someone have idea (or link) how to make sharpening jig for belt grinder ?

I simply angle my platen at 19 - 20 degrees off of vertical and then draw the edge across the belt with the knife in a vertical orientation. I hope this makes sense.

I have a belt grinder, and I tend to rough sharpen using Norton ceramic belts in 240grit and the cork/silicon carbide belts up to 600 grit, then go to hand sharpening with water stones, DMT files, or abrasive paper. When I started I used water stones exclusively, since I didn't have a grinder. These are good, and I still use them.

For doing flat bevels, like the pukko, this stuff is excellent. I just curse them for discontinuing the 240grit version.

Now I Using Haidu ceramic/carbide water stones.

Probably I find how to make a nice grinder jig for this.
