Sharpening with an Edge Pro Apex

Great idea Rubicon! Too bad I didn't know about this DIY strop before buying one online...

If you want to have some fun. Get a nice piece of FLAT stock (pine, whatever) has to be FLAT. Make it about 12-15" long and maybe 4" wide.
Take a piece of denim (cheap at a fabric store OR a pair of jeans that don't fit anymore:eek:)
Take the denim and staple it down the long side of you flat stock (staples on the side) and streatch it taut over the stock and staple the other edge. Do the ends as well, stretching taut.
You now have a "Denim Strop" fine as is OR you can impregnate with diamond spray (no matter)
This will keep a scarey edge on your beloved Hinderer XM as long as you maintain the edge. Obviously, particularly hardcore bouts of edge useage may require something like the WEPS, EP, SM or a trip back to the Ranch for a Professional Sharpening but, this is a cheap effective strop that works very well.
Give it a try!

Great idea Rubicon...Might try and rub some Weenol metal polish - might be a little cheaper than diamond dust - check Ebay or Amazon...(don't really remamber where I got this from) into the fabric or leather and polish the edge...I'm telling you it will make the edge "hair whittling" sharp. Went from the WEPS 1000 grit to Wenol on a leather strop. First time I used the Wenol on leather, I was blown away with the results. You can literately see yourself in the edge. There are other metal polishes such as Semi Chrome and even green rouge (steel shine) that will probable give simular results with the denim or leather. WEPS is offering balsa wood strops inaddition to the leather ... the balsa wood might not roll the edge as much as the leather and denim.
