Hi,

Just received my new Sharpmaker from Fred. Great doing business with him, he is prompt and a general all around great guy.

Anyway, I haven't watched the video yet; have to wait until tomorrow, but wanted some advice on the use of this tool.

How should one use it? How do you form a burr? Should you... You know, the usual questions. This will be my FIRST sharpening experience, and will practice on a Benchmade Auto clone that I picked up (nice fit, quick, nice lock, but dull as a butter knife) and then maybe an old "survival" knife that I recently found (search my post on oldes knives if you wanna know about this) It is also dull.

TIA for any advice.

Thanks,

Start with watching the video it's just great. It tells everything you ever wanted to know about the sharpmaker. And no you don't form a burr since you sharpen both sides at the same time.
