Now I have researched what a convex edge it makes sense why the mouse pad sharpening works and why the sharpener I linked too would not be best. Makes sense nowthanks!
So glad you were able to get it worked out. Sometimes it takes a bit of research. At least you were able to find out the info so now you can make a decision on how best to sharpen your blades
Patience is going to be your best option however your decide, don't get frustrated, it takes a while to get good at sharpening but it can be done, just don't rush it.

Ironically the skill to sharpen apparently can also be lost. I used to be fairly good at sharpening a knife in a meaningful fashion but I've had to struggle and learn to do it all over.
Before it just sort of came natural, I hope eventually it returns to that.
Don't give up, what one person can do another can do, at least most folks, maybe not so much in my case.
