Sharpest factory edge?

My sharpest knife right out of the box is a Smith & Wesson SWAT.
Everybody seems to dislike the quality of this knife, but I think it is quite decent.

My sharpest would be my LCC D/A, then a BM 45 that came back from some warranty work, and then my BM 43.

I've had some good luck with getting razor sharp blades straight out of the box, but the two that stand out the most and the Mouse and the Lum Chinese.

For me its hands down the SOG S1 Bowie.

These quotes reflect my experience also (only one Kershaw, but multiple w/ others).

I bought three of the various SOG Bowies in times past (few years ago, Tigershark, Tech I & II). All came with outstanding edges, looked like they were done on a fine grit slack belt, as they were polished, convex, and hair poppin'. Great for large knives. Now ... if the handles had been better, I'd still have them... but that is another thread.

The sharpest knives out of the box in my experience are a Buck 110 from their custom shop with BG-42 blade with Edge 2000 and my CRK Sebenza.

CRKT Apache II and my Microtech Mini-SOCOM.

On a side note, anyone afraid to use their super-sharp knives for fear you won't be able to sharpen them back to that edge? I tend to baby my MT, because I know there is no way I'll ever get it that sharp again.

This morning the postman brought my latest purchase, a MT Vector manual.
The blade of this knife is incredibly sharp, that is not a knife that is a scalpel!!!

My SERE 2000. I was very surprised at how sharp it was, out of the box. My only concern is when a knive is that sharp, I don't see how the thin edge can hold up to any abuse.

Sharpest at the top

William Henry Evolution
Spyderco Calypso, jr.
Benchmade 814, Mini-Afck
Kershaw Blackout

Note that the top two are VG-10. I also think it's cool that Benchmade knives are sharper out of the box now than in the recent past.

Spyderco Delica and Rescue models! The sharpest fresh-out-of-the-box production knives I've ever owned.

1. SERE 2000:eek:

2. Cold Steel - Almost all that I have.

3. CRKT (LUS & Mirage)
