Sharpest Knives and Swords in the World ?

Of course you can be skilled at ANY PROFESSION without being a "card carrying member", but my guess is most smiths would choose to be acknowledged if they qualify.
I am sure we could look up some of the big names in the business to see whether they have chosen to be acknowledged or not.

Why is this a debate in the first place? Who cares, I didn't emphasize this to start with, the scooch squad ran the usual (and at this point cliché) basic interference from their playbook.
Ignore it, almost totally off topic.

Those half a dozen guys that spend *literally * hours a day scouring Bladeforums for "material" to then exchange witty banter on their one silly thread, I understand that it's something you enjoy immensely, but for the hundredth time, could you please not purposely throw discussions off track and insert commentary designed solely for that purpose?

ANYWAY....
The ABS is interesting, there are very few members that qualify as "master smiths".

As pointed out, there are probably lots that Could qualify but don't, but it would be interesting to see if some of our favorite and most respected smiths are among their ranks, or if it's more like the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" where it's a private organization that has no real basis in talent or popularity. Like the fact they inducted lots of pop-culture garbage and R&B musicians but took decades to induct Rush, who certainly deserved the honor regardless of whether you're a fan or not.

I don't spend hours and hours a day here, but it would be interesting if anyone could find a list of members and whether Strider, Reeve, etc. are members, and if not whether it's because they don't care or some other reason.
I know that Bob Kramer spoke enthusiastically about being honored as a "Master Smith", and I think that there are only about 250 people worldwide who have earned the honor.

I'm not saying that it's prestigious or not... just like the Rock and Roll Hall metaphor... but it's definitely interesting.

I think that show "Forged in Fire" mentions at the start of every episode that one of the judges has this title, so I guess at least some people care.
But like I agreed with above, there are surely lots of supremely talented bladesmiths that for whatever reason aren't members.

Offhand, I bet Suchat Jangtanong is NOT a member, but the mosaic damascus pieces I have from him are outrageously impressive.

If anyone can find a list, let's post it.

Are you seriously in here talking trash about people who you feel are persecuting you, and then going on to ask others to do your research for you?

LOL Unbelievable.

If those people annoy you so much use the ignore function.

As for the ABS, there are many, many incredibly talented knifemakers that wouldn't qualify simply because they don't make forged blades. ABS credentials can absolutely be very prestigious and sought after if that's the kind of blade you're looking for, but lots of legendary knifemakers wouldn't meet the requirements. Michael Walker and Bob Terzuola, for example, are not members of the ABS from anything I can find, but anyone questioning their credentials likely knows very little about custom knives and their history.

Nope, I just dropped in to leave a quick reply, I have a lot of things to take care of and don't have much time right now to chat... Which I mentioned was why I was hoping someone would be able to do exactly what you did.
Thank you!
"I'm lazy, and don't wish to do anything for myself. Anyway, things to do, gotta run, ta!"

Glad you dropped in so it could be clearly explained to you.

If those guys that offended you are saying they are ABS Master Smiths and they're not then you should definitely call the Police and the FBI if they've crossed State lines.

If they're just saying they are generic bladesmiths then you're out of luck.

What was the the exact issue? Another business that wouldn't loan you stuff to test and decorate?

'AY MAN, free modification and embellishment is free modification and embellishment!!" [/Vin Diesel big arms thing]

This is exactly what I mean about following me around and annoying me. Yeah, I didn't have time. So what? I don't spend half my waking hours on this forum like some of you- and I am ignoring you (pl), but it's increasingly difficult when you make a hobby out of trolling people. You literally go out on these phishing expeditions to have something to talk about besides "sending smoke yer way, brah".
If you don't have something productive to add, gather your fodder somewhere else. It's weird you get off on annoying people.
