Sharpest slipjoint?

I don't think any of my knives arrived very sharp out of the box. I'm more concerned that the bevel is even. Then you can put the edge on it you want, as far as the sharpest one I own would have to be my GEC #72LB wharncliffe. The blade is very thin and razor sharp.

Sharpest slipjoint OOB was my Lloyd Damascus Zulu. The hollow grind and super thin stock make for a ridiculously scary edge. The only production slippie that came relatively sharp was my northwoods forest jack. My other GECs have came very very dull.

Hm... I honestly can't recall which ones were sharpest (or least sharp) out-of-the-box. Before I carry & use any of them, I tune the edges to my liking.

This also means that they're *ALL* sharp as the dickens. The sharpest one... no such thing. The dullest one... likely whichever one I'm using that day, after a day's work and before a re-stropping.

Case Bose annuals, and the Oeser Zulu were the sharpest brand new that I've seen. The Charlows and the 73s were pretty sharp.

I'd have to agree that Victorinox produces some of the most consistent grinds that are remarkably sharp. I would have to saw the sharpest blades are either my Opinel's or my Case peanut in CV. It's not a traditional, but my Camillus Cuda CQB-1 has bit me every time it has been unsheathed....it has been banished to the safe for it's behavior.

All of my Case knives have come razor sharp, but their cv is much easier to sharpen. iv only gotten one GEC (so far) a 85 that came super sharp as well, but havnt had to sharpen it yet so don't know how easy it will be to sharpen with the given edge. my case yellow peanut is still the sharpest knife I got, love making that edge shine while the rest of the blade is a nice gray.

I just got in a new Cadet. Holeeeee Cow! Even grinds and. Sharp. As. All. Get. Out. Didn't inspect with a loupe but it looked pretty polished too. Very impressive. My sharpest knife oob evar.

Last Victorinox was a one hand Trekker, which was pretty sharp but with the chisel edge and serrations I guess I just didn't pay attention.

I don't own as many slip joints as many of you (<20), but of the ones I do own, my Chambriard Compact was probably the sharpest OOB. None of my GEC's, Queens, or Cases have been what I would consider 'sharp' OOB. Of all the production knives I've purchased, including non-traditionals, by far the sharpest OOB was an Mcusta Seki with a damascus blade - I could shave my face with it out of the box. Beautiful knife, but it has a thumb stud, so I don't think it could be considered a traditional.

If talking any knife, my J. Oeser was the sharpest folder. I got a big chopper and medium size knife from Bill Siegle in trade once. Both edges were frightfully sharp and had the "sticky" feeling (but they are not traditional, nor folders).

My sharpest folder is my Opinel Carbon #7, by far. But it is super thin, and I actually thinned the edge more. It is a laser, and scary sharp to use.

My GEC made Scharade #73 and #23 have laser sharp clip points too.

Here are a few after "cutting cows"
