Yes, my friends, K-Mart has Schrade Sharpfingers on sale (hunting season) for just $15.99, about the best price you're likely to see on these. They're not perfect, but they are a good knife for the money with a useful, practical blade and handle shape. This might be your chance to build a very inexpensive, functional neck knife.

There was a discussion of the Sharpfinger a while back, and I included instructions for turning one into a neck knife, along with photos. The URL is:

OOPS!!!

I got some bad info! I called my local store and checked. It *was* on sale, but the sale ended in Sept. Please forgive me! Honestly, though, K-Mart often has sales of cutlery, and advertises in Field & Stream and the other outdoor mags. Keep your eyes open, and I'm sure they'll have future sales.

Open mouth, insert foot! Doh!

Wal-Mart still has the Sharpfingers (as well as other Schrade knives) for sale at very low prices. They are usually found in the Sporting Goods dept in clamshell type plastic packages with a small stone and honing oil included. If you look closely at the knives, you will usually find something wrong with them. ("Shrade" emblem inserted upside down, incorrect model number stamped into the blade, a blade a little short, cosmetic flaw, etc.)

I' ve a few Sharpfingers and they are SHARP! But for a neck knife?! What kind of neck do you have?? Size 22?!

Both the large and the small are good knives. The price is an outstanding value.Shrade won`t answer your mail though. There is no customer service.

Smokey Mountain Knife Works usually has some of these in their sale catalogs. I picked one up for $14 a while ago. They are good little knives.
