I got mine (Thanks Patrick!) and it works very well. The only question I have, having never used a V-Stick style sharpener is how do you keep the tip geometry sharp? I tried not to round over at the end, but it seems near impossible. I ended up going back to basics and setting the fine stones in the bottom like a bench stone and doing it that way. Is there a better way?

Thanks,

Brandon

Go slow and don't run the tip off the stone. A search of this forum (and its archives) should reveal that this is a very common question about the Sharpmaker. Too bad there isn't any easy way to fix it, without compromising the simplicity that is the trademark of the v-stick sharpeners.

Thanks JB, that's what I thought. I got a little over-anxious and figured I might need to slow down. I'll give 'her a try!

Elvis,

Just like JB said, take it slow when sharpening with the corner of the stone. You can even stop just before reaching the tip. This will not affect the tip sharpness as you can make up for it on the flat stone.
