Sharpmaker End-hole

There is a hole in one end of the Sharpmaker base . What the heck is that for? (I know what the grooves in the bottom are for.)

It is for sharpening scissors, you hold the blade at a 90 degree angle just as if you were sharpening a knife using the Sharpmaker then run it down the stone. (Click the thumbnail to view)

You can place one of the rods in that hole and use it to sharpen scissors. I don't remember off hand what the angle is, I think it's 12 or 12.5 degrees.

I use that hole/stone setup for draw pulling when I freehand. Works good.
