USE THEM!!!! Just a little public service message that I'm sure is not needed. So far tonight I have avoided a few cuts that would sure to have been a few stitches.
The only way I would use the Sharpmaker without them is if I have it in a vise attached to my workbench. Holding it with one hand and sharpening with the other without the safety rods is a great way to meet the surgeon at the local emergency room and drop a tidy sum on a painful learning experience. Beside, who likes to cleanup all that blood?
