Sharpmaker UF Rod came in... Hair whittling pics inside.

3 micron or about 8000 grit. The key to those results are a very light touch.
So I could do this with my 1K stone and strop if I work a little more at it, or would it be silly to expect these results with that?

I tried it just for kicks and wasn't surprised when it rolled off the hair free-standing, but I'm very surprised that it actually whittled it with the hair held semi-taught.

Its accurate but IMO not all that much, a UF ceramic will produce a much finer finish than a 2k water stone. Also note its listed as 7 microns.

If you can your better than I.

Yeah, I know. I have always tripped on that too. There is a lot I don't fully comprehend about "grit", "particle", "mesh" nomenclature. Suffice to say there are several nomenclatures. Even within "grit" there are different nomenclatures to muddy up the water.

ISO/FEPA, CAMI, whatever they decide to report with...

LOL, don't worry eventually you'll just call it grit and only get technical when needed. You'll also find that chart doesn't add up once you've tried many abrasives.
