I use Trufitt & Hill pre-shave oil, and Jack Black Beard Lube to shave with.

Best Regards,

I like williams mug soap. It lathers well and stays thick for quite a while. It does smell a litle bit like a citronella candle though.

I use Colonel Conk, but I appreciate the Mama Bear info. I think I'm going to have to try this.

I just use the stuff i can pick up local. Normally i make a super lather with williams mug soap and proraso (ce biggelow @ bath and body). When it's all said and done i have enough lather to shave a dog, but damn it i like the way it feels.

Truefitt & Hill 1805--My wife is powerless before this cream/Aftershave.

Gentlemen's Quarter--I like Desert Ironwood, & Highlander best, then Lavender & Black Cavendish.

I've been using a Burma-Shave shaving soap bar that I bought at my local CVS Pharmacy. I know it's not the very top of the line like you see on some of the straight razor or shaving websites but it's still a lot better than any of that shaving cream that comes out of an aerosol can.

I've been using a straight razor some but when I'm in a hurry I use my Gillette Sensor. But I'm going to check out more of those straight razor shaving soaps. I've heard that Theirs Issard ( the people who made my straight razor) makes an excellent shaving soap.

I'm going to check out more of those types of shaving soaps myself.

I dont have some of the pricier creams like Trumpers, True & Hill etc.., but, I have recently tried "The Real Shaving Co." shaving cream and shaving gel. Its really good stuff and made by Creightons of England who also makes Trumpers, True & Hill. Found it Duane Reade.

Other than that I use, Frasers, Speick, The Body Shop shaving cream (also Creightons), and Proraso. Good stuff.

I shave in the shower and use the same soap that I wash with, a habit I picked up when I use to live in a camping grounds, I hated having to wait to use the grubby basin.

I just got a bunch of samples from SRD and am hoping to try each one in the rotation in the next few days. I'll let you all know what I find.
got : Lavender
sandlewood
bay rum
vanilla (wife sigested)
frankincense
and one more that I can't remember.

I have a couple sample soaps that a buddy on SRP sent me. He also sent me ARKO shaving cream, I like it and its dirt cheap. Another guy sent me Bay Rum soap and somthing called first frost, very nice. It gets bad rap but the Van Der Hagen soap from walmart thats less than 2 dollars lathers up quite nicely.

Colleen at the Gentleman's Quarter (http://www.thegentlemensquarter.com) makes some great shave products that I have been using for my straight razor shaving for some time now. Most if not all her products are made with natural essential oils and bases. I have used her Cavendish Black, Orange Patchouli, Tambotti Wood, Desert Ironwood and Sandalwood shaving soaps and some creams. Hard to choose but I am using the Cavendish Black and my wife loves the stuff. Colleen's aftershave is simple but very effective. I also use her Cavendish Black Extrait cologne. A little goes a long, long way. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Glad you tried them and liked them.

Thank you for the recomendation. Her product is very good at a reasonable price.

I tried Classic Shaving Soap from classicshaving.com and found it to be good. I tried some C&E soap and just couldn't get a great lather from it. I tried VARS cream in a tube and it is good, but overall I prefer a soap. The cream in a tube is good for travel. The Gentleman's Quarter soap really makes a nice lather with very little effort.

So arwe the different scents supposed to make a diference after all of the after shaves and lotions or is it strictly for our own snout satisifaction?
