Shaveing Soaps & Creams

Well, there's all sorts of claptrap about aromoatherapy and all of that. But, casting that aside, unless you are alergic to one of the ingredients, the difference is only on the scent. Choose one you like.

Taylor of Old Bond Street has many very good creams/soaps. I particularly favour the Lavender, the Eton College is very fragrant too. There are many others in the range as well.

Proraso/Omega are very fine beard removers too, but you need to like the gum-tree fragrance.

Cheaper soaps such as Colonel Conk's Amber are well worth using as well, a very good travel item actually.

There are many others waiting to be discovered, joy! Pity those who wear beards....

I've enjoyed using Mama Bear's soaps. My two recent scents were Masculine Musk and Sandalwood Vanilla (a personal favorite of mine).

Just got a tub of Taylor of Old Bond Street Avocado, like it so far. Also have Proraso, just got it from a friend. It'll be nice in hot weather.

I like several of the Crabtree and Evelyn products and they wont break the bank, especially if you hit one of the sales.

I'm also a fan of Proraso.

Colonel Conk Bay Rum

Period.

You should try Ogallala bay rum. Best one around

They smell good, but the creams are to avoid for people with sensitive skin. I like the sandalwood balm though.

www.QEDUSA.com has some great stuff and Charles has redesigned his site to make it way more user friendly. His glycerin soaps are fantastic and he's a good guy to work with.

ordinary body soap

Man, are you missing out. Treat yourself, shaving can be a wonderful experience. Get into the ritual and enjoy yourself. No one ever called a man with a straight razor Metrosexual

Me, I favor Truefitt & Hill Indian Lime. It's not a big favorite of most guys but it suits me.

+1 for straight razor designs, great scents to them, and lots of variety. I have a puck of Micheal's wool fat soap, I'll try that as soon as I clean out my soap dish, but it reviews very well on SRP.

I get the smoothest and most comfortable shave from Biggelow/Proraso. I haven't used anything better than that. Heck I even like the smell of it. As for the glyserin soaps I don't find any difference in shave quality, some smell better than others but unless I hate the smell the smell of the soap doesn't matter at all to me. I use the VDH deluxe and for under $2 it is a steel.
