Shaving sharp edge on a SAK?

Hey, I've been collecting SAK's for a while, and I was wondering if you guys are able to put shaving sharp edges on your SAKs. If you can, what system or tool do you recommend that works best for putting a nice edge on a SAK?

the spyderco sharpmaker should work fine. I normally put it on a stone first to thin the bevels a little bit, then finish it up on a sharpmaker.

i use the deluxe lansky with the five stones. it does the trick when used right

Ah, see, I have a Lansky system, but I have had a hell of a time making it work with SAKs. I think I must be really bad at using it. To me, the main screw with the red top gets in the way of the stone, so it doesn't angle down enough to get to the edge on small knives. I think I must be doing something wrong. If anyone who has a Lansky system would be so kind as to show pictures of sharpening a SAK at 17 degrees, I'd be really grateful. If not, thanks anyway for the advice guys!

Another Sharpmaker vote. A shaving sharp edge can be had on it after one or two minutes of sharpening. A strop would make it an even smoother edge.

I sharpen freehand, using either an Arkansas stone or a fine India. Then strop with a leather strop loaded with polishing compound.

take the bevel to 15 degrees per side with course diamond..then to fine diamond. strop on leather loaded with green compound.

For SAKs, I rubber band small DMT diamond stones (the ones that come with the DMT Aligner kit) to the Sharp Maker stones.

I use the Sharpmaker too. First I run the 30 degree angle 25 times on both sides, then I run the right side 25 more times. I then switch to the 40 degree angle and do the same. This gives me a very sharp beveled edge that lasts a long time. It seems I have to run that extra side like I do to get the razor edge. SRM out!

Sharpmaker here too. I always keep the pen blade in all my SAKs hair popping sharp, you never know when somebody needs an emergent tracheostomy, or better yet, a thoracotomy!

I use a cermic rod (crock stick) at about 15 degrees per side, then some 1000-grit sandpaper. Finish by stropping it on a glossy magazine cover.

My SAK came shaving sharp lol, i use lansky crock sticks every week or 2 to touch up the SAK and it stays shaving sharp.

I can pretty easily get my SAKs shaving sharp with a fine Arkansas Whetstone and a ceramic rod.

My SAKs sharpen to shaving sharp easliy on a Crock Stick or Sharpmaker. SAKs are relatively easy to sharpen and take a very nice edge. Sharpen often for best results.

Everything I ever learned about sharpening was from Bladeforums, either directly from posts here or through links that hooked me up with solid information.
As a result, I can reliably get a good edge on almost anything. However, even before that, when I still didn't know jack about what I was doing, I was still able to get a decent edge on a SAK, at least for working purposes. One of the good things about SAKs is that even the most clueless of their owners can maintain them. The longer I use them, the more I am convinced that the people at Victorinox have thought of everything it takes to produce an ideal multi-tool.

Send it to Tom Krein....I got a Sak from him already sharpened...and its scary sharp...

SAKs are one of the easiest knives to sharpen. That and their price makes them great for learning.

I just reprofile the edge to ~10 degrees per side, refine the bevel with a fine DMT stone, then use a couple strokes per side with ultrafine ceramic rods for a microbevel. Finish with a strop.
