SHBA Passaround Disappointment

I recently received pics of my SHBA passaround and it appears that during it's travels it has received some micarta damage.
To all those involved I am not accusing anyone just disappointed that better care wasn't given a very hard to come by and valuable piece of Busse history.
To all other members thinking of or currently involved in a passaround knife please treat the passaround knife with care and respect.

That's too bad. Perhaps from throwing? Were the terms of use defined for all? might be a lesson for the next pass-around.

Still a hell of a thing you and KAAK and OTE are doing, sharing with others. :thumbup:
 
:( Man, I'm sorry to hear this, Mulder, and to see the damage to the grip(s)... Maybe this person will step forward (to you) and do the right thing...

Ditto. Of course, it assumes that one knew they did it. I am sure it was an accident. Still, if anyone thinks they may have done it, they should at least open a dialog with Dave to get it squared away.

I hope it gets taken care of Dave, that's not right. I'm sure Busse could smooth it out for you and maybe even take care of that fastener that isn't quite flush. It would be nice for the person responsible to take care of that for ya :( if they don't, I'd be willing to pitch in for a fix up job. We'll find out who's responsible if they don't man up and they'll get a box thinking it's a knife, but it'll be filled with my curlies ;).

That does suck! We (those in the pass-around) need to come up with a plan to get that pup cleaned up by Garth back at the shop IMHO. :(
 
Now that's a REAL SHAME!

Between KAAKs going missing for a bit (and I'm happy to see that it was recovered!) and now this happens to yours Dave... I'll bet others will think twice before offering up a passaround. And that's a real shame!!! :grumpy:

I personally enjoyed the opportunity you gave me with your SHBA, and that Chris (on_the_edge) gave me with his rare clip point NOe. A big :thumbup: :thumbup: to you both and KAAK!

I hope this was an accident... and the person responsible, steps up to the plate to make things right. Not that I could even think of what that would be.

Damn Dave that sucks bro. Sorry to hear that one of your SHBAs got messed up. Might have to sand her down a little to see if you can do a face lift. Hope it works out.

Thanks for the support and I'm sure that what happened was an accident.
Once I have the SHBA back I'll evaluate what I want to do if anything.
Might just have to send it to Garth for an extreme makeover with some hand shaped tigerhide slabs.

In the mean time I can't be too down as I just received this in trade.
Oh, and there is a small nick in the micarta handle so maybe it's karma.

I, too, am sorry to see the damage to the passaround knife. To have been around that long, with different owners and a user to boot, those slabs were in darned good condition.

The calls will not stop but will increase in frequency. :eek:

That's a beautiful knife. Sorry to see that damage. Its a drag but micarta can be a little fragile. I accidently scratched up some of mine and sent it out to Garth for some new slabs. Still a damn shame when you were so generous with your stuff.
 
In a User it is just another Character mark.

I would just like to stay careful enough to no hurt myself worse than that throwing knives.

Bent tips bother me some times though.

Sort of Depends.
